  • My Refrigerator Delivery Turned Into a Whole Movie (Home Depot + Side Deal Scam)

I swear I did NOT sign up for this level of chaos just to get a new fridge.
  • Ordered a Samsung RF32 French door fridge from Home Depot. Delivery guys show up, take one look around and go: "Yeah... all your doors are too small.
  • We can't bring it inside." Okay... cool. They left with the fridge, then my call them and ask can't they come and try.

  • They drop it in my garage like a pallet of bricks and bounce. Then come back and say: "If you give us something, we can try to get it inside." Not Home Depot.
  • Not a service call. Just them. I'm thinking like $60- 100 or something. I said, "No problem." They leave AGAIN saying they'll be back after their route.
  • They never come back. Today I call them around 1 p.m. Suddenly the price becomes: "$300 cash.

  • This is now between you and us, not Home Depot." What kind of GTA side quest is this??
  • I told them $300 was too much. They said they'd call back. Spoiler: they didn't. So I go to Home Depot and explain everything.

  • They immediately go: "Oh hell no. Here's $372 off your purchase... you can just put it inside yourself." Bruh... I basically got PAID to do my own delivery.
  • Now I've got this monster fridge in my garage. Had to call my handyman for tomorrow.
  • Turns out to get this fridge inside, we have to: Remove all 3 doors Disconnect the water line + electronics • Take off the freezer drawer. Undo my weatherization (hard plastic screwed-on door seal) Bring the fridge into the house sideways Pray Apparently the fridge is 29.5" deep with the doors removed, and my back door opening is 33" only if I remove the entire weatherstrip trim.

  • So yes... we are now uninstalling my home's insulation to get this fridge through a door.
  • At this point I'm basically a Samsung certified technician + a carpenter + a mover. All because two delivery guys tried to hustle me like I was buying sneakers out of a trunk.
  • Wish me luck.

  • ellaflutterby Dude, no. Don't take the doors off. Remove the freezer drawer, open the fridge doors and angle it in through the doorway.
  • OP kemzo Thanks for this information! We will definitely try this
  • Dubsteprhino Yo idk why people are jumping on OP i had a fridge delivered by lowes and they took the front door off the hinges for me, put it back, didn't cost anything.

  • OP kemzo I don't know either! I'm a new homeowner my first ever appliance purchase since I moved in 2 years ago. Thankfully, this is not my PhD defense. ☺
  • NightmareMetals So in a twist the guys that said it wouldn't fit were not BSing you and the $300 quote was fair.
